Applications for participation in the III International Media Award for foreign journalists and bloggers “Honest View” are still being accepted. Since August 1, the Organizing Committee has already received about a hundred materials from applicants. Both experienced professionals of the media field and novice journalists claim to win. All of them have one thing in common: in their publications, they report an honest and unbiased opinion on humanitarian, cultural, economic and other joint regional projects with participation of Russia.
Entries can still be submitted for one more month, but the geography of the contest has already spread to Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Journalists, independent authors and media organizations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, China, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Paraguay, Peru, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Zambia and Zimbabwe have submitted their materials. And this is not the limit: based on the dynamics of growing interest to the contest in the previous two years, the Organizing Committee expects to expand the geography to all the continents - especially since the contest is receiving attention from international associations that unite journalists from different regions and strive to maintain high standards of the profession.
The award is open to foreign media editorial offices around the world and independent foreign journalists, authors and bloggers whose professional activities are aimed at bringing countries and peoples closer together. Contestants’ works will be assessed by the Expert Council and the Competition Jury that consists of reputable experts in the field of media, economic, social, and cultural areas of international cooperation.
The chance to receive public recognition and professional community assessment for objectivity, journalistic integrity and unbiased attitude remains open until September 25, 2024 - this is the applications deadline.
One of the innovations of the award in 2024 is the nomination for young journalists aged 18-25 - and it has found its audience: more than 15% of the applications received for the competition were submitted by applicants under 25. In December, the most talented participants of this nomination will be invited to Moscow to attend the Media School - lectures, master classes and trainings by Russian and foreign experts on international issues and global challenges. They will be mastering modern formats of journalism and mass communication technologies in the context of covering international humanitarian projects.
At the moment, the highest activity has been shown by the applicants under age 35 - almost half of the entries were received from them. The youngest participant of this year's contest is 18 years old, the oldest is 67.
Another innovation of this year is the special nomination for the author of the material covering cooperation within EAEU, BRICS and other international projects and initiatives. The winner in this category will be selected by the Competition Jury together with one of the Award’s partners.
Competition results will be announced in December 2024 at the award ceremony in Moscow. Each nomination winner will receive a cash prize, other contestants will receive valuable prizes and gifts. The total prize fund of the competition is 6,200,000 rubles.
